If your here visiting this Dope! City, called New York it’s not uncommon to see sneakers hanging from high telephone wires, power lines, or other raised wires.  One reason why sneakers are flung in New York City, is child hood buddies remembering close friends moving out of the neighborhood. Anytime someone left, they would throw a pair of their kicks on the line so that everyone could remember them. Other reasons behind tossing sneakers vary from commemorating the end of a school year, remembering loved ones who passed away to the block and territory “turf” possessors for “illegal” practices. Others just do it in order to get rid of sneakers that are no longer wanted.  It’s basically the manifestation of our creative society to leave a mark and decorate our surroundings. Sneaker tossing takes place in urban areas throughout the U.S. .Sneaker tossing has also been observed in other countries such as, Canada,  Europe, Ecuador, Mexico, and
Argentina.
More of World NYC culture to come.
